Like .45 1911's? Like paying your light bill?

$289.95, new in the box. I plan on getting one as soon as I've got the extra cash. Hell, maybe 2.

Everyone should have a 1911. It's been around for 100 years and still going strong.

Rock Island Armory=Armscor, right? Do you trust it?

I'm not throwing cold water on it, I'm genuinely asking. I don't know much about them except that at one time they were considered inferior. I have no doubt that you could make a fine 1911 in the Philippines with modern manufacturing methods.

There has been a couple of favorable reviews on them, there is an old on on The Sight.

Never shot one, I would think that Springfield would be as low a price I would pay for a 1911........... less than 400 for a pistol is asking for trouble.

Phrost, make sure you do a good break in with it if you buy it. A bad 1911 is just a brick. Plus is that there are tons of gunsmiths out there that could hook it up if it don't work perfect.

It doesn't have to be that way, baby.

The HS2000 cost $200 a few years ago when it was introduced--now Springfield armory sells the same gun with their name stamped on it for, what, around $400-450? It was already a great gun when it cost $200.

Still kick myself for not buying it then.

Before you go and buy this 1911 Phrost, fire off my SA TRP Operator.

It's in to fix a sighting problem, but is probably the best large 1911A1 I've bought.

Oh I'd love a 1911 with all the bells and whistles, and I believe you that the Springfield is much better. But that thing is 5 times the cost of this one.

Can you modify this like a normal 1911? All the trigger upgrades etc.

    If you can't, it's not a 1911.

    P.s. That means yes.

Of course, if it's loaded with shitty small parts (it may not be, I don't know) then upgrading to premium parts will not save one money. Better off going with a semi-custom pistol like a Rock River Arms.

Until I had to start shooting in something resembling a "live" manner, I never knew what the big deal was about all these tweeks people make to their 1911s. That is, until I start slicing my hand during tap-roll-rack, having sweaty hands while checking the chamber (on a smooth slide), getting chaffed from a grip safety with edges, getting hammer bite, having the plunger tube come loose, having the rear sight come loose, pinching my palm while slapping a magazine in, having hot loads break your extractor etc. And then there's the trigger which is supposed to be the big selling feature. If you get a bargain basement 1911, I would avoid the torture of playing with high end ones. Too much: "****...that's nice."

For me, I'll have nothing less than semi-custom. The fewer people to answer for problems the better. Those surly north-easteners at the Colt factory are pricks.

Having said that, reliability hasn't been an issue with mine. If you don't have that at least, as stated, you have a paper weight.
