"I do MMA mixed with Wing Chun"

It seems to me like there is a new type of martial artists coming up, now that MMA is getting more popular, more and more people start seeing how awesome it is and among those people are stubborn practisioners of traditional styles. I train with a guy who has a few years of exp. in WC and recently started training Kickboxing with me and has gotten into the whole MMA thing. However he still claims that "teh real WC is too deadly for MMA" and when he spars he actually sometimes uses the retarded WC stance and starts doing some bullshit Kung Fu. When I tell him its not working he says "yeah, well it takes at least 10 years to become good at KF. KickBoxing just takes shorter to master"

There are some succesfull MMA fighters out there who still stick to their traditional style, of course they learn a lot of other stuff, but still remain in the stance of their traditional style (Ryo Chonan does karate for an example). Is that just silly stubborness, they still canīt face it that their **** doesnīt work even though they know it themselves better than anyone else?

Do both if you have the time. WC will definetly make you more gracefull. I used to use the shaolin-do forms just to get my body to use movements it would NEVER have a reason to do. What does it hurt? Nothing. As long as you use them to supplement something else that your actually going to use for fighting. Do I use kung fu when I fight? Yup, because I've never been train how to strike properly. Looking forward to getting some real striking training :5obsessed

Hey thiers nothing wrong with that!

Just as long as you know your deadly karate dim mak strike wont make you invincible or crazy eye pokes from wing chun wont work on the ground.

And the fact that 'anti-grappling' wont work.
