didn't look like haymakers to me, just wide hooks, and ya know, people don't seem to hardly ever throw jabs in MMA. His standup seemed pretty decent to me. He's no Wanderlei Silva, but c'mon, give the guy a break!

well i dont grapple because i dont go to gaybars and start fights. so the chances of having to defend against a "full mount" or rear naked ANYTHING is slim.

You have a much lower chance of hitting the ground with elbows.

This is not true at all.

I don't watch much MMA, so I accept being wrong on the jabs point. The guy did start throwing elbows at the end.

I think its a question of pride. Some people have been doing martial arts in a particular style for so long, they don't wish to be made to feel like a beginner by getting into grappling/groundfighting and starting all over again.
But its like anything else in life. Those that recognise groundfighting as essential, train in it. Others just believe what they want.

thats kinda sad.. I thought overcoming pride was always a lesson of ma .. ( ..and life....)... when there's something u want to learn , you just cop that someone might to need to show you .. n some ppl dont. whaddya do??.. ppl learn what they want and they stop when they want .. anything that happens after that just does...

Just once I would like to see a guy with shoes on start slamming his heels into a guys kidneys when he gets taken down. It seemed effective for royce in the UFC. I wonder how well I could pass someone's guard if I was getting slammed by shoes in my kidneys.

geez, after buddy in the pants "pulled guard", i thought he was gonna start whoopin' a$$, then as i saw the other guy get mount, i thought WTF? like Kid said, armbar city.
i'm a noob at all this, but i'm pretty sure there was A LOT more buddy in pants could've/should've done from the bottom, besides lay there, wiggling his arms. i thought it was funny when the bald guy tried to slam his opponents head into the ground, but c'mon now, there was like 1,000,000 more practical things to do...
