Gerard Gordeau's style field says Savate, and he's a Kyokushin guy.

And that the hell does Silva use when on the ground, or when avoiding to go to the ground? Muay Thai? Jeeez, use your brain man.

Besides, that's not the statement by which you started this thread, which I'm quoting (with title and all) below:

so i dont wanna hear that "bjj" is the thing to do cause it obviously doesnt work as good as you think, it has its weaknesses and its pluses, yes that is a word...
Your original statement is that BJJ doesn't work (whatever the hell that means) because , because, according to you, pride fighting champs are not bjj guys (whatever the hell that means.)

You display the argumentative skills of a 6th grader, do you know that?

    Ad hominem + red herring.

Besides, as I just mentioned, this point, which you are debating right now is not the same point with which you started this retarded tread. See the point?

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Look man, since you´ve given a first step towards being articulate, I´ll sum it up for you.

For decades, the main consensus among the MA crowd was that striking arts were the end-all-be-all in unarmed combat.

Then, the Gracies came with the UFC and destroyed supposedly expert of several MA's with *gasp* grappling. While calling this the "BJJ revolution" may be pretentious, it surely changed the way in which unarmed fighting was perceived, grappling arts, almost unknown or practiced by a minority compared to other MA's(leaving aside Judo, which was quite widespread), specially BJJ, became the new fad.

After proving itself succesfully against other MA's, grappling, speciallly BJJ gained reputation all over the world. The fact that BJJ as defeated and defeats regularily other styles, causes its practitioners, or should i say its practitioners on this forums, to brag about it. Of course, anybody who has been here long enough knows that most of that bragging is not serious, it´s just for fun and to piss off whiny bitches, like yourself, and _in _ung practitioners mostly.

Serious and respected members on these boards have never claimed that BJJ is the end-all-be-all in unarmed fighting.

One of the side-effects of fighting bullshit in MA is remmindidn all that patty cake MA LARPers that grappling, specially groundfighting exsits, that the difference in skill in these combat distances makes a bigger edge than the same difference in striking, and that they should be aware that 90% of what they know won´t serve them if they´re taken to the ground.

Preaching BJJ's virtues is the way in which Bullshido tries to accomplish such task.

Of course, it is so much fun to see those whiny bithces MA LARPers calling this site "full of BJJ nutriders", and we answer consecuently, just for fun.

The thing is, any MMA fighter not proficent enough in groundfighting is gonna have a hard time on the ring or cage. Ask AnnaTrocity about what can happen once you´re in the ground (and she is, as far as i know, at least skilled in groundfighting).

(gerard gordeau) but he clearly talks about being a Savate guy in UFC 1. I rented the video not too long ago, I laughed like a maniac when he stomped that fat guy in his 2nd to last match!
