The old pony tail beard combo????

I was rading through some of the older threads and someone mentioned the pony tail beard combo. Whats up with that?? The guys I have identified with this anomaly are usually one or a combination of the following:

1. Computer Geeks, who feel misunderstood and are trying to be hard-core
2. Guys who do a martial art, especially some useless TMA Kung Fu, or some hippie art like Capoeira (trust me on this one I used to do Capoeira)
3. Metal-heads
4. Trekkies

All of the above are usually accompanied by a lot of black clothing

So why is it that this 'fashion statement' is so prevalent in our beloved hobbies of violence?

People don't often realize that while a beard can be cool, a ponytail can never be cool.

i had a ponytail in dredlocks until a few weeks ago.. my hair was pretty long.
Dont know what you guys reckon, but my dredlock ponytail was pretty cool.. but it seems most guys who try to pull off the ponytail style end up looking like she-dudes.

You can help discourage this trend by considering the beard and ponytail as convenient handles to facilitate face-punching.

True guess the pony tail can look good however, we are specifically talking here about the uber geeking effect of combining the two.

I was a bit of a metaller and got away with long hair while doing Kung Fu. Only took a few months of MT and having my hair pulled out while clinching to cut it off.

my ex roommate has the beard/ponytail combo. He pretty much qualifies for every category in that list. His hair was repulsive. Plus he had a neck beard (he'd trim his beard, but never shave his neck, making him supremely retarded looking).
