    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Training weapons

Dose anyone know any where that sells deacent (won't fall apart if you accidently knock it) blunt swords? (I'm in the uk so needs to be uk based or ok 2 export)

The Kobudo (and higher dan gradings in my JJ style) include some weapons training, more out of historical/intrest than any practical use, & i am struggling to find a blunt one, as most half decent are sharpened which is not a good plan when training in a room with up to 30 other people, and probably not good near mats.

Do they have to be metal or wood?

For blunt metal drawing sword look for a solid Iaido http://www.e-bogu.com/ has some good ones.

For wood http://www.bokkenshop.com get a white booken one.

BTW. Kobudo is used to refer to Okinawan Weapons. What weapons are you learning on your Jujutsu style. What is your Jujutsu style?

Want to get a metal one, we have a couple of club bokken's for using in weapon defenses, used one & it's not the same, the weight for one thing.

Can't remember later ones but for 2nd Dan u do kata & couple of application for Bo, Sai, Nanchaka & tonfa (I think thatís all) + sword work, 2 longer kata & iai-jistsu, & couple of other bits.

In kobudo Iíve used, Bo, jo, Sai, Nanchaka kama, tonfa & yawarabo (kobotan) later on you cover wassashi, tessen & a couple of other I can think of right now (apologies 4 spelling but anglicised Japanese is not easy when u dyslexic)

I'm Part of the WJJF (World JuJitsu Federation, & yes I know theyíre site is lame)

Why is a Jujutsu Federation doing Okinawan Weapons?

Bo: What Ryu? Or Okinawan Style
    Nunchuku: :shakes hard:

Your sword work is Iaijutsu? What Ryu? or is the Kendo Iaido Forms?

They also have a sub section the World JuJitsu Kobudo Organisation,
Part there for the money ti think but i enjoy it so hey

Bo: its just part of the system, the kata are form soem where, one 2 man counters is apparently v old

Nunchku: are there as the get people intrested, best use is to hand to ur oponent & watch them knock them selves out (that said one of my mate has practiced alot & could probably give a reasonable showing) but as i said not serieosly thinking of using in a fight (except possibly the jo, see pool cue comments elsewhere)

We do a little bit of iaijitsu, about 5 diffent set pieces (guessing moves were 'borrowed' from somewhere) another bit is the 8 cuts (happio geri again apologies for spelling)

will get syllibus out 7 tell u details another time
