Yes, we went over the rules and I compete regularly in Judo.
The Matamoras club is a GREAT club, I have a few friends that train there.
I have been encouraged by those same friends to compete in Blue belt division, but I only have been doing Judo for 2 and half years and think I should compete in white belt.

Awesome, it will be a great first bjj tourney for you to check out.

I'm also excited to hear your son is attending as well, we have a bunch of great kids at the school who are competing and I'm hyped to see how the kids division pans out. =D

I train at Matamoros place (as well as helping with the kids) and hope I'll be well enough to compete at the tourney as well. My neck is all kinds of jacked up, and even if my neck is good by the 15th, the last month or so I have had barely any mat time, so I don't know if I'll compete anyway. I'll be there in the morning for the kids divison regardless!

If you have been competing in Judo for 2.5, and the people from the hosting club suggest you go into the blue belt division you probably should. If nothing else than to avoid being called a sandbagger.

Aye, I'd have to agree with Yrkoon9, though, even if his post wasn't sound, the magnified spinning head would compell me to agree anyway.

Who do you know from the gym cop2?

2.5 year of Kodokan Judo training (20% ground) would be around blue belt skill level in BJJ ? Comparing person of similiar size, hours trained, etc.

I wouldn't think so if he only trains 20% ground stuff, I think it would be more based on someone from the school recommending that he compete in blue belt divison.

What if you enter as a white belt and destroy everone? You'd feel like a jerk

but...if you enter as a blue and get reamed, it could be awkward to enter as a white belt later....

    A dilema...
