Tactical training vs Target shooting

THe mozambique was develeped by the SAS due to body armor. In a firefight, you can't tell who is wearing at time. Center mass is still the quickest way to take someone down.

If you aren't point shooting on your double taps, and then aiming on the head shot, then you are doing it wrong.

The first time I did a moz, it took me 2.x seconds. By end of drill, the mozambique should be no more than 1.5

Well , I am not arguing that shooting someone 3 times won't hurt like a bitch.

I wonder if it was SAS who shot the kid in the London Subway ? They thought he had a bomb , so they head shot first , I guess. I read Eric Haney say the Delta Force people do the same.

I however , am now just a concerned citizen who digs guns. I imagine I'll stick with 2'n'1 as well.

London Police do carry guns, but usually only the Armed Response units. They have a lot of cops without guns (for now) but they have a lot with MP5 subguns, too.

The drawbacks of the double-tap and the Mozambique have been noticed, and now many trainers are advocating the "Non-standard Response." In simple terms, this means as many rounds as possible on the same target. Just keep firing until the target goes down. Don't switch targets unless you evaluate the situation and determine a need.

Well , I guess you know more about it than me. I remember the TV news coverage very well. I must have missed the follow up story correcting my impressions.

I know the London police have armed units , and they've been known to patrol with the army when my northern cousins act up.

I get the impression y'all aren't too keen on training for headshots , either.

If you're using a pistol caliber round, it is entirely possible for the skull to deflect the bullet. A kill shot should be cordially directed to the throat. As for the Mozambique or Failure Drill, Donn Gwin is right on the money. The SOP is now to unload the clip until the BG goes down, and to keep the weapon on him until he stops moving.

Just 'cuz you shot, don't make you dead yet.
