Any student of taijutsu will tell you that taijutsu has a stupid amount of traditional weaponry within the system. In fact, this was a primary factor for why I stopped training in it a while ago, as I simply had no interest in practicing with dozens of different types of archaic weaponry. No ninjas for mods.
Discussions based upon the relevence of traditional weaponry in modern martial arts is another matter, but I don't think we should discount an opinion based on a popular perception of a style when said style representative could very well have valid knowledge to impart in regards to this specific topic.
That was a long ass sentence.
In short, count on a Ninja to know all sorts of silly factual information about silly weapons. -

I just saw my name mentioned. I'm glad that got nipped in the bud. I can't be a Bullshido mod in a technical forum for three very important reasons:
1. I already moderate five forums on two different sites, plus my full-time job as a special-education teacher, my kids' football schedule, my family's weekly visits to the adoption-preservation therapist, and a couple of nights per week on call with the local ambulance service. Life is full. Frankly a couple of the forums I moderate now get neglected.
2. I moderate mostly political and gear forums because, when you get right down to it, I'm not really an expert. I just have a big mouth.
3. I do not practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so clearly I cannot be a Bullshido staff member.
So, in short, I don't have time to moderate the forum, but it's not so bad, because I am also grossly unqualified. -
