    Korean Traditional Wrestling...with Chicks?!?

Korean game shows are always doing wierd stuff. In this, pop stars are pitted against each other in various challenges. This time, it's Ssireum, traditional Korean wrestling. It shares similar roots to sumo and Mongolian wrestling.

    Chaeyun

    Bada

The clip starts with Chaeyun calling out Bada. Bada is a pop star, formerly of the group SES, now a solo artist. I had a crush on her in high school, back in the good old days. Anyway, Chaeyun is calling out Bada cuz Bada slammed her ass into the mat last time the wrestled. They replay that match before getting on to the challenge.

Of humorous note, the Ssierum coach at one point tells Chaeyun to reap the leg...and she actually stops to ask what that means. A couple of the guys explain it to her, but Bada still slams her ass.

Remeber a few years ago when they had celebrity boxing?

I remeber that they had Greg Brady vs Danny Partrigde. Greg was much bigger, but Danny had actually done some boxing. He tore Greg Brady up!

People often tell me that I fail to see the gravity of the situation.
I see the gravity, and I say...

Step right up folks and watch me defy gravity!

She beat a girl while wearing bunny ears.

    Nuff said.

I don't know if she has any actual Ssireum training or not. It tends to be a guy thing. She does seem to have a basic idea of balance and control. The last throw was a little rough, but it was nice none the less.

The difference here is that in America, this is a one time occurance for washed up celebs who will never get their stardom back.

In South Korea, if you're popular right now, you're going to be on some game show, likely making a fool of yourself, getting a cymbal dropped on your head, or...playing ssireum with other girls...

I wouldn't love to grapple with either of them.
