I've been looking around my area for a new martial arts school to attend in my area and this is the closest one ( about 2 hours away) that doesn't immediately look like a McDojo. They also have arts I'm interested in (BJJ, Kali, and kickboxing). Does anyone know about Bruce Corrigan or the school? Is it good, crap, all of the above?

It looks like crap, but the BJJ might be good. 2 hour drive you say...? Damn.
Did you check if there is any Judo in your area?

Bruce Corrigan is a BJJ Black Belt under Carlos Gracie Jr. Pretty good lineage there. As well as a Judo 2nd Dan. Yeah, I'd attend that club.

Crap, I missed that part. He's also a Judo BB.
I read this:
Bruce is certified to teach the following: 7th Degree Black Belt Shaolin Kempo, 7th Degree Black Belt Karazenpo Go Shinjutsu, Senior Instructor (Black Sash)Jeet Kune Do
And stopped. =/

The Shaolin Kempo is the only downer I could find just looking at the website (I'm a former Shaolin Do guy so I don't want to go down that street again).
As far as Judo goes, I'm starting at the class they have here at ETSU, I was just looking to see if there was anything different in the greater area I could look in to.

Judo will get you far, don't worry about it.

I'm going to be checking that place out in the next month, I'll let you know what I think. There's a good BJJ place in Knoxville also since that interests you, a number of guys there train and fight MMA.
I haven't seen classes there yet either, but know several people who train there.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out.

Bruce was a friend of some of the guys in my system, and it's good to see he's moved away from traditional Kempo and has since expanded his knowledge to include Kickboxing and BJJ. Kempo philosophy on fighting is great IMO...the techniques most "traditional" kempoers display is usually utterly pitiful though. It seems Sifu Bruce has successfully put the Kempo mentality in its proper place when it comes to teaching effective fighting and self defense.

Don't hate on the Kali, either. It's a blast.
