    Hell yeah! Hell no!
Perhaps I'm just being culturally sensetive to our Canadian membership. Perhaps I'm trying to invoke the gallent spirit of the Belgian people during both World Wars. Perhaps I'm trying to recall the amazing, unthinkable success of the Haitian revolution.

Perhaps it's just a ralling cry.

Regardless, comrades, we must carry on the good fight. We must band together in the face of imperialism and free the martial arts world from bullshido in all its forms! We must take back our sovriegnty. We must defend our arts from the McDojos and conmen of the world.

Martial artists of the world, Unite!

    Aesopian lives!

    VIVA LA RESISTANCE!

    I'm not French.

Even if Aquinas wasn't as cool as Descartes, hs philosophies had a bigger impact. Besides, mentoning more than one Frenchman in any particular field was unnecessary, and made the joke run on for too long.

Skepticism is retarded. Thomas Aquinas contributed humanism, which is infinitely more important and overshadows his misogyny.

By the way, "cogito ergo sum" was an attack on skepticism.

Not so much. Tho Descartes' conclusion was intended to support the existence of man and the existence of god (in the hope it would get him a chair at the Sorbonne as much as anything), his method of doubt galvanised sceptical thought in european civilisation. Although he dismissed sceptical arguments about the existence of the self with "cognito ergo sum" (at least in his own mind) the legacy of his method of doubt that led him to that conclusion was scepticism. That the highly religous Sorbonne refused him a chair there is indicative of the failure of his attempt to remove doubt both about man and god.

Scepticism does suck, as you say. But as one half of the classical epistomlogical tradition it has had a bigger influence than humanism's ethical meanderings.

    Now go listen to Machinegun.
