I actually think he used a wooden spoon to make clear that you can use just about anything as some kind of improvised weapon. Looks kind of hillarious though...

He, and the nipple pinch looks somewhat painful but using it in a fighting situation!?

From personal experience, I can say that the Wooden Cooking Spoon is the ulitimate weapon when weilded by an angry Italian mama.
I still bear the scars today, and my nightmares are still filled with her battlecry of: "You touch-a my daughter? I smack-a you silly!"

There is a Vin Diesle movie called The Pacifier, in which the efficacy of the "Purple Nurple" is disproven.
It must be true since the movie has Vin Diesle in it, and Ninjas too.

I like how he says the wooden spoon causes confusion and disorientation. I think I would be pretty confused if the guy had a spoon on him, and tried to pinch my nipple with it... but disorientation? So you hit someone with a spoon and they don't know where they are anymore...

I also find it funny that when he 'locks' the guys arm with the spoon, he can potentially incapacitate the guys ONE arm, while he holds the spoon with BOTH his arms... Isnt that sort of a disadvantage. Well, I guess the guy would be disoriented and unable to use his other hand cause of the immense pain...

I suspect that if the person was resisting the spoon would break.

The wrist lock with the spoon looks reasonable enough... The other guy doesn't seem able to use his other arm with the wrist locked the way it is. just that a wooden spoon is a retarded weapon(yes much like myself).
    Nice stick technique though.

Yes i get pretty disorientated when some random person pinches my nipples.

Perhaps the wooden spoon is chosen for the humour factor?

The techniques look a lot like Yawara Stick work.

Maybe this guy is just trying to illustrate, through lite humour, that anything can be used to defend yourself.

But then again, he probably did have an italian great-aunt :new_borgs and is still terrorized by the memory of it.

What person in their right mind would take self defence tips from a man who wears a purple T shirt?

I love the pinching techniques especially pinching the top lip. When the **** would you ever use that on someone?

My mother was very versatile. Her weapons of choice were "la chancleta" and "la correa". Oh how I miss that good old fashioned ethnic child abuse.
