What do you mean disowned? Do you consider those people your family or something.

Not really. It was supposed to be 'eye catching' so guys like you would get suckered into reading my pointless thread.

    Thanks.

Uh-huh. Both statements are true I guess. But so is the following: there is almost nothing worse than having someone's fist colliding with your face when your head is touching the ground and knowing with a few months of BJJ or some such those arms currently making your face a mess, you might well have snapped at the elbow. Just a thought.

Seriously, I don't like grappling. If I'm going to fight, I don't want to go to the ground. Ever. I always hated watching grapplers fight. Its just not my style. I don't care how effective it is, that only means its effective for others not me.

Now I don't know exactly all that Crawford's offers, but most of their classes were Something based on different forms of JJ. It might be soild, but I just don't like to grapple. Nothing against grapplers, I just don't want to do it. The only thing I want to know about grappling is how to not get taken to the ground. As long as I can stand, I'm cool.

And don't say "well learn JJ so you can defend yourself on the ground". I'm still thinking about it. Really. I realized that training in one style is kinda stupid, because if the style doesn't cover something like groundfighting, they you could get seriously owned by a grappler. But if you are 100% grappling, you could get seriously owned by a striker.

You realize that to avoid going to the ground, you actually need to be a competent grappler, right?

Or are you just planning on never having to fight on the ground?

Besides, how much grappling training do you actually have? My guess is that it's minimal, and you are probably far closer to the 100% striker than I am to the 100% grappler.

Well I hate filling out my taxes but if I don't do it the government will take me down and heel hook me.

I think I fucked this metaphor up somehow.

Seriously, I understand how you feel. Grappling is painful, claustrophobic, and it drops you out of the comfort zone you have as someone with training and busts you back to newb

But if you don't do it you'll suck at it, and if you suck at it you'll get beat by it. And you will never have an acceptable takedown defense if you don't train at a school that is fully "ground aware"

Crawfords is a unique opportunity in my opinion - a place to learn bullshit free fighting.

But recruiting for them isn't my job.

I will tell you I started judo because it seemed like a good way to blend takedowns, takedown defense, and grappling into my training without having to do too much mantouching, and after like 6 weeks or something I'm already coming around to the "**** it just trip and strangle" mentality.

There's no choice but to confront you, to engage you, to erase you. I've gone to great lengths to expand my threshold of pain. I will use my mistakes against you. There's no other choice.

The only grappling I know is that of hand grappling.

At anyrate, thats why I said, "I'm thinking about it"

Correct me if I'm wrong but, AJJ and BJJ and JJ are all grappling only right? Do they teach any standup? I only ask cause...well I don't know.

So you hate watching grapplers fight but have no idea how to do it? Do you have any idea silly that is? Has it occurred to you that you don't like watching it because you don't understand it?

Eh, go easy on him. Man doesn't have to grapple if he doesn't want to. It all depends why he's training, doesn't it?

Still, if you've not tried any grappling, Dark_Glitch, why not go check out a judo class? You might find you do enjoy it after all.

I have stated elsewhere on this great site that I have done a little grappling with a friend of mine who was into BJJ, but I just don't like it.

Do you have any idea how silly it is to keep doing something I just asked you not to do?

Again, I am thinking about it. Berrating me isn't helping.
