    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Has anyone tried this training method?

I was reading about a type of training I've never heard about before and it sounded, well...awkward.

    It goes like this:

Get a string, attach a square piece of paper on which you must draw a dot of, say , the size of this :stop: smile one end of the string, so the other end will be attached to the celling of the room. I guess it would be something along the lines of a hanging focus mit made of paper (?)

Anyone knows how this is to used? Does it improve anything? I'd appreciate any reasonable insight you guys can offer.

I train accuracy on a hanging pingpong ball. Which I guess is the same principle. though it's a bigger target than your dot. the ball moves around after each strike, so it's hard to predict where it is going to be.

I just wail on the heavy bag as hard as I can. I usually hit it where I intended.

If you are looking for accuracy I suggest a Cobra Reflex bag. You can hit it as hard as you can and it moves around without being destroyed. A peice of paper hanging from a string would last exactly ONE punch from me. Then would need to be re-hung.

Summary: LAME TRAINING METHOD. THERE ARE BETTER.

Edit: Put a little yellow sticker on your heavy bag instead.

Didn't bruce lee advocate something similar? I remember something about hanging a piece of paper and hitting it or barely hitting it...

If you go and look back at old threads about a Muay-Thai instructor who shows in one clip how he did this exactly. You are supposed to punch at the string and bob your head to avoid the piece of paper that's coming back toward you.

I supposed if you are a friendless person this method could come in handy

I've seen something similar used for training w/ the 6 1/2 point pole.
