Dude, have you ever headbutted yourself?

I'm telling you, bro. It is the height of awesomeness. You have to see it to believe it.

To be honest? None of my friends that I hang out with regularly do martial arts, currently. Not a single one of them. I try to avoid discussion whenever possible, except for some close friends of mine that watch MMA.

Incriminating myself so KP doesn't have to: Occasionally I fail at not discussing martial arts in public, and it might have resulted in a grappling match or two.

To answer your question, though: I really don't give a flying **** if other people are impressed by me or my martial art. I don't exist to impress others. If they want to see what I do, they can come watch a class. I'm not a dog that does nifty little tricks for other people upon command.

I'm the same as Garbanzo. I only discuss it around my very good friends, who dont really care if it works. Talking about it with random ppl, that tends to get you called out.

...but, showing someone i can kick the top of a door frame (6'8-6'9), that impresses most ppl.

It's usually me letting them punch me as hard as they can in the abdomen. Usually its the guys who've never fought before but think they're really tough because they go to the gym who are impressed, I wouldn't let someone who could actually hurt me do it.

I used to avoid talking about it, but now I invite them to come try a free class down at the bjj gym. Most people turn me down.

I'm too deadly to show off.
You can't make people smarter. You can expose them to information, but your responsibility stops there.

Never talk about martial arts. Ever.
If people ask what you do, just say ''I train''.
If the asshole ask what do you train, say ''I train martial arts''
If the asshole ask what martial art you train in, say something vague like ''chinese boxing'' (usually works for me). Probably he won't ask about it anymore because people who don't do martial arts don't give a flying **** about it.
