    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Something better in Perth, Western Australia

    Hi.

Ok, gave up wing chun for multiple reasons.

    Now I need something new.

I don't want forms anymore, and I want something with at least a decent amount of physical contact.

Muay Thai? Vale Tudo? anything else?

Does anyone even live in Perth, or is it just me?

If you do, and know of somewhere good to train, please let me know.

    Ok thanks.

EDIT: Well, maybe kickboxing, if its actually good.

Why the **** would you link him to a kyokushin page?

What are you looking for and whereabouts (North, South, East)?

MMA and BJJ stuff theress the Academy of MMA in Mirrabooka (www.mixedmartialarts.com.au), in Cannington there's Gracie Barra, Osborne Park has Fight Club. I'm sure there's a few more around.

There's A few Muay Thai / Kickboxing places around, Phons in Northbridge, Westside Kickboxing in O'Conner, Kalamunda kickboxing, Midland Chinese Boxing club.

Thats all off the top of my head, http://www.yellowpages.com.au, search for martial arts in Perth, you'll find pretty much all you need.

There are a few other Perth people here, so I'm sure they'll chime in with some more help too.

A lot of places don't punch the head in competition, which is bad. That said, kyokushin is actually one of the better karate styles. There's a kickboxing/bjj/mma place on scarborough beach road in Osbourne Park, and a gym on the east side Fitzgerald St. just coming into Northbridge. If you're looking for a good kung fu style that spars full contact with pads, the Buk Sing Choy Lay Fut (sp?) school is apparently pretty good. I think there is a kwoon in Balcatta and somewhere else south of the river. Which suburb are you in?

EDIT: Just don't tell them that you used to do Wing Chun.

The other one's in O'Conner. But unless you're willing to pay the big $$$ and get rorted for a few years before you learn anything decent I wouldn't go there.

Yeah, it may take a few years, but a lot of the guys there compete in local fghting competitions. Not MMA, but it's a damn sight more than a lot of the places I've seen.

But yeah, if you want to do it the quick way, you might want to check out MT, MMA and grappling.

You don't think Kyokushin can work ?

You don't think it turns out decent full contact fighters ?

Go to the next Nationals Tournament, or better yet your next European Championship and say that. 'Cause I've got $500- here that says it will be full of people who could kick your ass.

Greetings fellow Australian. The Muay Thai and BJJ option is good but it probably is expensive. I say check out the Kyokushin place in Perth. Don't worry. You'll get hard training and lots of hard contact fighting I can tell you.

If your looking for some grappling to supplement your striking, go to the University of Western Australia. Look at their Judo team. I hear its pretty good and cheap too.

My suggestion is to go to http://www.mixedmartialarts.com.au/ as was suggested, or contact Gerald who runs an MMA school at geraldbb@hotmail.com or 0419 594 723
