Men's activists launch 'Roe v. Wade for Men'
Came across this article last night:
Basically, women and men both have the opportunity and right to use contraception. If pregnancy does occur and the women wants to terminate the pregnancy, the man has no options. Lawsuits have been filed in these cases and never went anywhere because it is argued that it is the women's right to choose.
But if pregnancy does occur and the women wants to have the baby, she can do so against the will of the man, and the man will bear a financial responsibilty for the child that he doesn't want.
I brought it up in my gen ed sociology class today for discussion. One of the first responses was that "men should step up and pay there share; if they messed up and got the girl pregnant when they didn't want the child, then its too bad."
My reply was that you could use that same logic to argue against abortion. That's why I like the logic of this lawsuit. In court, if the man wants to keep the baby but the women doesn't, the court sides with the women. So if a women has a right to terminate the pregnancy over the will of the man, then men should have the right to "terminate" the responsibility being a father should the woman choose to keep the baby. So the woman's right to choose is intact, and now, a man has a right to chose to.
I'm not sure what I think about reality and the possible outcomes if this case is successful. But on paper, I like the logic.

PIG!! MISOGYNIST!! What's next? Women should stay in the kitchen???
Expect lots of flames. I agree with you, though. If it's the "women's right", then she should bear the whole responsibility. If she doesn't want to bear the whole thing thing, and you don't want to bear the rest, then the kid can't be born. Test tube babies might not be such a bad idea. If the man wants the kid, but the woman doesn't, then he can just take it out and stick it in a test tube (well, when that becomes possible).

I'd be alot more impressed with a lawsuit trying to make it so women have to get the father's permission before getting an abortion. This is just silly.

Life isn't fair. You want to make 100% sure you never have to pay child support, don't get your dick wet. This "waah I want equality" nonsense is just an excuse so the guy can be a deadbeat.

The father doesn't become "the father" until the child is born. Just as the thing in the womb is not a child until it is born.“We are surrounded by warships and don’t have time to talk. Please pray for us.” — One Somali Pirate.
