Kage, have you done STAB? I did a workshop with Karl Tanswell and was really impressed by the concepts, applications, and the fact that Carl choked me with a wierd lapel choke I had never seen before...

There is no complete MA, and you should kill yourself for studying Wing Chun.

What about an elephant with a shark tied to its back? Stomping and eating everything in sight! How do we defend against that?!?

Complete martial art? If it's really for self defense then i am going to go against the grain here and say that your first priority would be getting a gun and learning to use it very well. Get yourself a plastic pellet gun and practice using it while someone's lunging at you and/or hitting you. Some tactical movement classes couldn't hurt either.

Next, get a sap or batton, and learn to use those. It's not that hard there are tons, of classes/seminars out there that can teach you decent techniques on how to use them; even the bullshido ones will at least show you what NOT to do.

Then after all that start hitting the mat in a BJJ and an MT class. Good striking + good groundwork = Good hand to hand. DOnt worry about if they are "the BeSt!", they are reliable and fairly easy to find. Also if you're a fairly strong guy a little pro wrestling instruction will help teach some "dump uncooperative ass straight on his head" techniques.

And of course, practice, practice, practice. None of this crap is any good if you aren't ready to dedicate a huge chunk of your life to getting yourself in shape and knowing what youa re taught to the point where it becomes second nature.

And yes, if you don't carry a gun martial arts are useless in a great deal of self defence situations. Screaming "KIAI!!" and getting into a horse stance against 3 guys with beer bottles will get you f***ing raped.

The most deadly art is obviously "Lethalo"...it is so deadly, they needed to put a synonym for deadly as the name...with an "o" for artistic reasons.

Fear the Lethal Lethalo Nipple Rub of Lethalness!!

Better yet, the masterminds of this style managed to put the true power of Lethalo into an easy to learn method of cardio kickboxing...namely, Cardio Lethalo!

I hope this puts your quest to an end, young seeker.

Here's a basic move that you see in MMA matches:
jab, fake overhand right into changing levels to a double leg.
pure MT + pure BJJ will not teach you that move.

Mixing different arts does not mean it'll fill in the holes. The best still isn't enough.

Not everyone has access to a MMA club.

Muay Thai does not have a monoploy on striking.
BJJ does not have a monopoly on grappling.

I think its fair to say that there is only so much one can do. If you can get good training in a striking and grappling art, then your doing the best you can to be a complete fighter.
