    The "Complete" Martial Art

How does the martial artist come up with the "complete" martial art. I'm not one of those Wing Chun shitheads who thinks my art is the "ultimate" art, nor do I think grappling by itself is good enough.

Do we take the best striking art and the best grappling art and put them together? Is it that simple?

Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
    Wing Chun and Sambo?
    Tai Chi and Judo? (um...no)

Or is it more complicated than that? I'm a young n00b, enlighten me.

    Prepare to get flamed.

Ultimately, different people will need different training to meet their individual goals.

I think we can safely say that a "Complete Fighter" would have some type of striking training, some type of grappling training, and some type of modern weapons training.

Trying to pin it down to specific styles is asking for a world of hurt.

BJJ might make you a better ground fighter, but Judo will make you a better dancer.

Far more complicated then that. What about Weapons? What about Weapon Defenses? None of those arts you mention deal with Weapons at all. So let add an Art that does like Kali or a "program" that does like STAB. Or what about guns? What about this, what about that.

There is no complete MA, and you should kill yourself for studying Wing Chun.

Thanks for repeating what I already stated. Of course there isn't a complete MA, that's why mixing martial arts is essential.
There is fighting while standing and there is fighting while on the ground. Why can't you take the best of those two worlds?

And you should kill yourself for studying Iga Ryu, you stealthy ninja man. (KIDDING)

You can mix good as many Martial Art you want it still won't be complete. Because then you are spliting you time between so many system and philopshy you will ending up have 1 year of expirence 20 times rather then 20 years of expirence.

There aren't two worlds. What about multiple opponent, what if there is lava? Ok seriously, what about if the person got a knife, or any weapon.

I'm currently devising a martial art that focuses mainly on fighting in lava.

Might also try the search function. I know that i for one started a similar thread some time ago. I am sure that i wasnt the first. You have some interesting ideas here though. The answer that most people gave was that no art is "Complete". To get that "Completeness" you will have to cross train in multiple arts. I would say there is no one single formula. Howeve if you have a good ground art + a good striking art + good close weapons art + a good shooting art.......
