Eye Pokes do Work! Video Evidence Inside!
I'm not talking about the Three Stooges here.
On Friday March 10, Villanova guard Allan Ray was taken to the hospital after his eye apparently "popped out' when he took an inadvertent finger to his eye from Pitt's Carl Krauser.
The video of the injury is so gruesome, ESPN refused to show the replay. Lucky for us, other sources aren't so squeamish about showing such things. A video of the eye poke and injury can be found here:
"I just seen him hit the floor, cover his eye and holding it," said Krauser, who added that he has known the fellow Bronx native for years. "I thought I hit him in his head because my finger is kind of swollen."
Krauser then showed a few members of the media in the Pitt locker room a swollen left index finger.
Everyone involved in the Big East tournament took a serious tone about the injury. One member of the Villanova extended family was even seen crying with the initial reports that it was a "severe" eye injury.
Lucky for Ray, the actual damage wasn't as bad as the video looks. He is currently seeing fine and resting comfortably and there are talks of him returning for the NCAA tournament.
Ouch, man, just ouch. My vision is getting blurry just thinking of about it.
On a related note, at this week's Stirkeforce MMA event in California, 6'2" 250 pound Krzysztof Soszynski was incapcitated by an inadvertent eye poke by Mike "Mac" Kyle.
Soszynski was being out fought and out hustled by Kyle, although Kyle was amped up by fighting in front of home crowd to the point of fighting sloppy. Almost immediately before the eye poke Kyle was deducted a point for hitting Soszynski low with a knee.
After being poked Soszynski was instantly transformed from a guy losing but still fighting to someone with no hope of defending himself. After the doctor confirmed he could not see, the fight was called a technical draw.
who didint think that eye gouges would work?
It's amazing the injurys and trauma that the body can take and the person cans still recover fully from it.
Just do a forum search on "eye", "poke", and "gouge" and you'll find plenty of threads full of people.

Still there are people that say that sucessfullly poking someone in the eye won't cause much damage or won't stop a trained fighter.
OOOMFG. You can see it!!!! You can see his freakin' eyeball!!!!
edit: 1600th post!! Double sweet!
