Looking for a Judo Dojo
I'm thinking of trying Judo, I've been studying Hakko Denshin Ryu Ju Jitsu for several years and am looking for something which is more physical. We learn a great deal of techniques but I often leave the dojo without breaking a sweat.
I'm looking at Park's Judo in Akron Oh (no website) he's been there for 38yrs and lists his credentials:
Grand Master Kiel Soon Park
* 5 Times Korean Grand Champion
* A 2 Time World Judo Champion
* Silver Medal Winner Olympic Games
* Personally Developed Many National & International Champions
* 1984 Korean Olympic Team Coach
* 1986 & 1987 U.S. World Championship Team Head Coach
My concern is I called and asked to observe a class and he says he doesn't permit that. Dues are $800.00 a year which is not out of line compared to many Martial arts schools in the area but I hate to signup and find that I don't care for the school.
Also I can't find anything to verify his credentials.
If any of you know of Kiel Soon Park or any other schools in the Cleveland/Akron Ohio area please let me know.
I got a question and I think it will help "why does a Judo teacher have the title GRANDMASTER?"
I say run..........Any one who calls themself grandmaster should be avoided.
Ask him to throw you when you're trying your hardest to stop him.
Well he is a silver medalist.....
Because he is also a TKD teacher.

If they're only teaching Judo once a week, than it's probably being taught as a supplement to their TKD.
I would go if you can get to train with him and it is not a TKD primary school.
Silver medal in Judo is great quals but the Grandmaster bullshit from TKD, I hope, would not spill over into Judo.
Just make rude comments about Lamonica Sensei's daughters in front of him, you'll sweat then. Post pics if you got them.
