Ok Punisher. I can dig it. I was mixing my reply to you with the frustration I was feeling over Mercurius' blind devotion to what he perceives as tradition.

    wannabmasta,
ever think of correcting your own mistakes?if you know its wrong correct it.when learning technique you must do it ad finitum till its second nature.
kung fu requires hard work and dedication, maybe you would be better off going training by yourself for a while and work out what you feel is wrong.

    Punisher,

i didn't interpret Mercurius's post as either racist or elitist.

"was mixing my reply to you with the frustration I was feeling over Mercurius' BLIND DEVOTION to what he perceives as tradition."

didn't see that either. he merely stated a cultural phenonmenon. you seem to read into things alot.

    peace.

"ever think of correcting your own mistakes?if you know its wrong correct it."

    LOL. wtf?

if he knew what was wrong, why would he need a teacher?

"you would be better off going training by yourself for a while and work out what you feel is wrong."

that is possibly the worst advice i have ever heard. especially for a beginner.

    peace.

You seem to read into things too little. :)

I thought I made it clear that I didn't think either comment was inherently racist or elitist either in my replies to both people.

My comments were meant to voice my feelings about people who take social and culutral phenomenon and turn them into excuses to become racist or elitist.

    Merc,
    What happened to you?

"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - for ever."
Normally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the **** I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog

Well, ok Kuntaokid, if not BLIND DEVOTION, then at least incredibly near-sighted, like Mr. Magoo.

BTW, the points you have problems with in crushing fist's post, are similar to what Merc's advice was, except with the added bonus of STAYING in the class. This guy just isn't getting taught.

Masta-- Do yourself a favor and at least check out the way other schools do it while you're still in your current school. It can't hurt, and it may just save you years and tons of $.

    Good Kung Fu School:

    -HAS continous contact sparring
    -Teacers CORRECT mistakes
-Senior students do need much correcting, they became senior studdents by PRACTICING! They know their stuff and have the skill. These students usually are NOT wimps
    -Students NEVER teach the class

This type of school exists. Find a different school immediately.

    Wastrel-
