Thanks, I tried on one looking very similar to the headgear in your link, but with a full plastic face cover with gaps for eyes and nose.

I only sparred with a metal caged headgear so far, and I want to get myself one. However, the biggest specialized shop here has only plastic face cages at this moment and I am not sure I want to have that big gap infront of my eyes when sparring full contact....
Did you try both? Which do you prefer?

I havent tried the one I posted, but I know someone who uses it. He likes it because it laces tight, so when he gets hit in the face the headgear doesnt move around.

I feel like a broken record I recommend Fightgear headgear so often. Buy this one: http://www.ringside.com/detail.aspx?ID=25830
It has a REMOVEABLE cage. That way you can use it for empty hand without the cage like you should and add the cage for weapons. Empty hand with face cage is bad for both parties in my opinion. You risk hurting the attackers hand and you give the defender unrealistic feedback. -

Here's another good quality headgear:

The first thing you think is "It doesn't protect the whole face!", but believe me unless your going for eye pokes you very unlikely to get hit through the gap. -

I always wondered: is that bar (the part under the eye gap) in contact with the nose in this type of headgear? That would sound like broken nose everytime, so I guess it isn't so. But where does it make contact with the head then?

I bought this kind...I figured that it would be good for my MMA training because I am so squeemish about getting punched on the ground. I took it to class and EVERYONE replied, "I'm not going to hit that." Failed for my needs so I will try to return it for something else.

dont train using a cage on your face, it is too unrealistic. i would have thought you above all people would have been against that tonzu
