I'm trying to decide on headgear, I've narrowed it down to two, this one:
or this one:
We're planning on full contact head and face punching so which one do you think will be best?
The top link with the head guard with a cage on. The plastic one looks like it could shatter. (before you laugh I've seen this happen!)
dude, you totally need the space helmet.
Holy ****, dude, are you sparring in deep space? Jesus, those things are huge.
If those are your two choices, take the first one.
I say go with the first one even though they don't stay on for ****. I smacked a git with an axe kick during point sparring once and the velcro attachment popped off. The second one will stay on better but your face shield will fog up and you can't see **** with those things on.
i actually use number one for full contact sparring with face punches as well... as long as you're using gloves as well and get that **** on tight it'll serve you well. yes, it will spin on you when you're getting hit and the bar will **** with your vision a bit, but not enough that you can't fight. and i've seen number two shatter as well... or not shatter as break out of its frame at a really bad angle.
You've got to be joking. Just get a Boxing training headgear and stop being a *****. Consider the Air-Max. I like mine.
I'm going to go for something like the air-max myself when I start Muay thai sparring, but you have no idea how hard it was convicing everyone to start using headshots in sparring at karate.
and broken noses suck the big one.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris
