Ya it would be intersting to see some cap guys really going at it. Most vids online are pretty tame.

I wouldn't exactly call it full contact, but the people in these ones actually seem to be trying to hit each other:

Yeah, I wouldn't call that fighting either. But that is the most contact I've seen in any of the capoeira vids around he place. Honestly, in terms of practical usefulness, capoeira would have to be worse than long form kung fu. Or at least as far a fighting goes.

Benefits of capoeira include: gaining balance, rhythm, a kicking bod, being able to do a handstand and carwheels and heaps of other cool stuff, and having the highest proportion of fit ladies to guys in any martial art. Even TKD.

The only drawback: you won't actually learn how to fight. But then you can say that about a lot of places that teach poor MA. As long as you're comfortable with this fact you will probably end up having a heap of fun doing capoeira.

hi all! this is what i got at the moment. not that great but no flips in the capo:

capoeira roda with no fancy stuff:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpkaJl8nthQ

capoeira in amateur striking/kickboxing tournnaments. his spinning heel kick is common in capo. its called rabo de arraira:
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=neIV9cEb_-c

capoeira tounament by grupo muzenza (someone posted this up already). This tournament is judged on the flow of your capo game, takedowns, and malicia/malandragem/cunningness:

sorry i dunno how to make links so u guys gotta just cut n paste. Also, its hard to get vids from brasil.

There is one group based mainly in brasil and argentina but have offshoots in several countries that is pretty good. They are called grupo topazio. I've met one of their instructors from argentina who fights in mma tournaments. his capo name is mago, but i din ask his real name. their website:

    http://www.capoeira.com.ar/
    http://www.capoeirasiri.com.ar/Principall2.htm

They incorporate grappling/jiujitsu into their capoeira, and some also cross train boxing. This is common since capo is not rigid.
The websites are in spanish but the second one has some results fr tournaments.
This is their main group in brasil:

    http://www.capoeiratopazio.com.br/

However, like i said before, capoeira takes long to learn, but i provided this info cause porky was interested in bantus initially n wanted to know if they were a legit capo group. Not to argue whether capo is better than other ma. But if porky wanted to learn to kick ass in a short time, i recommend muay thai.

btw, to correct a common myth. a smart capoeirista would never fully ginga in a fight. however the stagnant ginga stance is a good place to attack and forms a strong base. But an occasional ginga to move position or get around someone is useful. very hard to explain. sorry.
