Because I'm sick of trying to teach the parents how to tie belt for their 4-6 year olds. I'm mostly a MMA gym these days and really am tired of obsessing on whether the kids can tie a belt correctly when I came up through a system that didn't use belts in the first place....

Why worry if they are tied a certain way? Just let them tie them however they manage to keep the belt around their waist.Omega posted:

I wear belts to train and have always wondered why the obsession with proper belt tying proceedures. -

Because reality is perception to new students and if we had ass looking students (dress wise) the school would look like crap. Besides that how some Mcdojo's are and their students are crap most of the time. There still should be some pride in appearance.
That's why BJJ guys have all those cool looking gay gi's with all the patches. -
