Well, following the logic of this thread MT=TKD+Knees+Elbows.

Not at all, because TKD doesn't kick hard or throw punches well.

Ken, you're very, very confused about ruleset vs art. Seriously. Like you're being Rudy Abel quality partisan ignorant in this thread. Muay Thai fighters did not invent the sprawl in 1991. There are people training in TMAs that can fight. Get the **** over it.

There are people that train in TMA that can fight, I agree. There are also people that do ballet and can fight.

Sprawling isn't in Muay Thai. It's in western wrestling. Sprawling isn't simply a low stance.

You're really like the late-period BF skinner of this board sometimes

For the record, I have never been taught an elbow or a knee in anything but a TKD class, yet somehow I can still throw them.

    Muay Thai is TMA.
    BJJ is TMA
    Kyokoshin Karate is TMA
    Wu shu is not TMA...
    Sport Karate is not TMA

Get your definitions straight because with these examples your examples look stupid. But you're used to that aren't you?

It seems that every martial art is TMA to you. Your definition loses all meaning when it doesn't give a person any idea of what kind of martial art you're talking about.

Good point Johnny. I think the best way to put it in proper perspective is that there is TMA (traditional MA, as in following a tradition set forth by it's founders) Which would include Kyokushin Karate, Shotokan Karate..actually most Karate, Aikido, Japanese Jujitsu, TKD, TSD etc...all the way to things like Muay Thai, and BJJ

Things meant for sport like Olympic TKD, Submission Wrestling/grappling, San Shou, Combat Sambo and such would be categorized as sport.

Most modern day Kung Fu practicioners cannot consider themselves TMA'ers because as this thread has pointed out, they don't follow in their founders "traditions" and cut out the brutal training and conditioning and instead decided to turn it into dance class.

Eclectic styles such as Kempo, Kajukenbo, Krav Maga and such I wouldn't know where to categorize. At least with the first two, their history, lineage and "traditions" have been so bastardized by peoples different takes on them, that they can be hardly considered "traditional."
