I didn't see the exclamation point. I just backed the **** off this one and will take NakedMagick's word as The Gospel.

I do agree that running cardio doesn't translate well to rolling cardio. I also enjoyed reading the style fields from these older posters.
Combatives training log.

kettlebell workouts give you “cardio
without the dishonour of aerobics”.
I used to play that game when I was 17 or 18; I thought the 'Ripping and Tearing Techniques of Shaolin' were the real ****. I would have been better off to foom with the chunners.

I'll just leave this here:
I knew I'd seen him somewhere, then it came to me: a Seanbaby article!
He's in some Youtube vids too:
^ series about "dirty fighting". Aside from the aliveness issues with "dirty fighting", to me it didn't even seem like particularly good dirty fighting. Instead of the normal eye gouges, headbutts etc, we see slapping the elbow (not illegal in sportfighting), a crappy sprawl thing followed by sport-legal hammerfists, shoving a guy into an aikido roll to avoid a chair (?!?), then dissecting how to slap a guy on the beanbag.
I saw this as I scrolled through your post:
I suspect the Fein Fighting System would be far superior to what this toolbag espouses.

Oh, and there's him exclaiming "FOOM" all the time, but that's just ... y'know.
So ... a six-year Necro is nothing special?
I think it's special.
NakedMagick did he have hair like that when you trained with him?
I have never met him in person, and probably never will, because I live in Ireland.
I can say that I, personally, found his books hugely useful. Now, to be fair, I had already qualified as having basic competence in Shotokan, and was trying to move to an armed art (SCA sword-and-shield) without a trainer closer than flight distance. I might not have agreed with every word he said, and some of it didn't apply to the art I was attempting to learn at the time...but I did go from a no-hoper to one of the best in the specific art in Britain/Ireland, and a lot of it was due to Mr. Christiansen's writing.
