Last Night's Fight

I watched the De La Hoya-Campas fight last night, and I am baffled at the continued popularity of boxing. Boxing is a great discipline that has produced some truly great fighters, but all of those guys last night would have met varying degrees of destruction in an eclectic match. There was more intensity in the crowd than in the ring. I can only conclude that with the purses being so outrageous AND guaranteed, that big names like De La Hoya can afford to be so cautious and boring. Is it true he made $11m for that fight? This seems to be a sport that has been drained of life. Somebody needs to issue a new cross-venue challenge.

I'll watch Olympic boxing, but pro boxing is about as interesting as NASCAR.

Ya Olympic boxing is good to watch.

The president of UFC (I THINK) called out a major boxing promoter a few months ago. The boxing guy was running his mouth off about how MMA guys wouldn't stand a chance agianst a good boxer. The UFC guy (Might have been Dana White) told him to name the place and time and they'd meet and find out, I don't think the boxing guy has responded since!!!!!

When I win the lottery, since Ashida Kim has already been punked, I'm going to invest in the 20-second long tackling and submission of Mike Tyson by Nog. Just think, if it's 20 bucks a head to watch it on PPV, and Tyson goes down in less than a minute, how much I'll save on hourly wages for the cameramen and support crew!

Toughman is still fun to watch. Occasionally "higher" levels of pro boxing is kinda fun to watch, like if there is some hyped up grudge between the fighters.

I usually stick to Sumo though...
