Burton Richardson JKD?

Does anyone have any input on this guy and his martial arts?

Are you receiving real instruction or trying to learn from videos?

I already do take an mma class, I just thought I might use this a supplement, as it is more "self defense" orientented as my class is mostly geared towards fighting in a mma competition.

you could see if it's available at TotalVid
where you can preview martial arts instructional videos for a week for $3.99

Other than that, I am usually pretty skeptical of most online self-defense videos which may or may not be bullshido.

The site does seem a bit mcdojo though with the "performance program" stuff.

Maybe someone here has some firsthand knowledge of this guy and can help you out...

Richardson wrote columns for Black Belt Magazine for a number of years which were pretty good and not their usual drivel. I have not however, seen any of his training materials.

Havn't seen his vids, but Burt was one of the first JKD guys to adopt BJJ and is a big advocate of alive training (he is interviewed onthis on one of Matt Thornton's DVDs). He wrote a good article on progressive resistance for BB magazine.

It won't be bullshido, which says very little about whether you can learn from a vid.

In his own articles he's talked about how knew a lot of various styles, but then went and competed in kickboxing and MMA and got his butt kicked, and it made him go back to the drawing board and really streamline his JKD.
