I've been using a somewhat effective triangle escape, not sure how advanced it is, but it seems to work on everyone I use it on (to their frustration), maybe because it is a massive sacrifice move. Also not sure exactly where I do it from, but the moment they look to resecure the lock, as in it is on but isn't tight enough for the tap so they readjust, I roll over so they are basically applying a mounted triangle. I then put all my weight to the ankle under their knee and this makes them open it up bit, giving me some wiggle room. Yes, it puts me in the position of them triangling me, armbarring, also possibly switching easily to north south, side control, or mount (although this is difficult because of the trapped ankle), but it also gives me a "back door" option that, provided I am quick enough, can have me arriving in side control as they turn around. The pressure on their ankle is usually enough to stop the triangle, the higher belts go to the armbar straight away but I am in a good position with my hips free, my legs free and one shoulder on the ground to be able to shift out of it.

Sorry, bro. Saw the thread when some n00b (who is now moved to Trollshido) wrote on it, thought I would throw in an escape to see it's legitimacy as an escape.

On first impression I wouldn't recommend what you describe unless they forced you into that position. It's nice to know you can do that, but try to develop your triangle escapes/passes from the top.

I think usually it is that they have already put me on my side, but I will definitely work on that, I rely on this method too much. Cheers.
