Apparently sloppy punches aren't bad because they might lack power or give the other person the chance to counter punch. Sloppy punches are bad because sensei gives points to the other person. How artificial.

Sounds like something from a Japanese variety show.

The fact that he started awarding "points" against one of the kids for not respecting her opponent is ridiculous. Point sparring teenager teaches lame martial arts to even younger kids.

See, it's obvious to me he doesn't have his own school. He has to have some help as he can't sign contracts, rent buildings, etc on his own. So the story is hyperbole to some degree.

Also that line about the profundity of a car ride really cracked me up. I was like, "Obviously he has never driven a black '49 merc into the heart of darkness."
There's no choice but to confront you, to engage you, to erase you. I've gone to great lengths to expand my threshold of pain. I will use my mistakes against you. There's no other choice.

The difference, say practitioners of shou shu, is that shotokan karate is a sport, primarily intended for sparring in tournaments. Shou shu is primarily for self-defense.
WHAT!?!?!? You mean all the times my old Shotokan Sensei dumped me on the ground and taught that you should train for one punch or kick to send a person to the ground was REALLY meant for tournaments!?!?!? ;)

To be fair, he did teach a sweep with the one punch to send them to the ground and made no bones about they were more times than not going to jump back up. It was suppose to give you time to retreat.

Kroddy black belt = teacher/Sin Say (age not a factor)

Old School Karate 5th dan & at least 30 years old = teacher
People often tell me that I fail to see the gravity of the situation.
I see the gravity, and I say...

Step right up folks and watch me defy gravity!
