    Two Questions?

    Would the chin or the nose be a better target?
    Why palms rather then punches?

    Would the chin or the nose be a better target?
    The chin IS the target...that's what I meant by jaw. Nose would mean extending further than I want to inside someone's guard, assuming they're a good grappler. I'm giving them a chance to take my arm every time I throw my arm out there that far.

    Why palms rather then punches?
    Using the palm gives you an extra few inches to launch the strike, if you were punching, your fist would almost start on their chin. Keep in mind, your forearm is resting on their body AS YOU DO IT, you barely want to break forearm/body contact as you hit the chin with the palm.

    Your fingertips should be able to touch his chin, palm it, from that distance. Short, low risk.
