I think PENIS's statement that Chinese don't compete in events like UFC or PRIDE because they can't get visas is not totally accurate. Yes it is difficult to get visas to the U.S. and Japan partly because those governments make it difficult and partly because China makes it difficult. But if visas were not an issue I still don't think you would see any Chinese competitors coming to the U.S. or Japan. They're just not ready yet.
I know that there was an MMA competition in Beijing in recent months and I believe that there were some PRIDE representatives there scouting the talent.
When PRIDE officials believe that some of the clubs in China are producing competitive fighters they will start bringing them to Japan to fight, it won't be a visa issue. China doesn't have anyone that has proven themselves enough yet to warrant any interest from Pride or UFC, but I believe that will change in the near future. -

We all know that Chinese people never leave China.. nope, never happens. Only the wealthy ones do. Those Chinese athletes in the olympics.. not really Chinese, they are outsourced from Taiwan.
I get the feeling if the PRC thought that they there was a great MMA fighter in China, he'd probably get all expenses paid to compete. Am I wrong in this line of thinking?"Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities." – Voltaire. -
