    Just as a counter point...

He's no different than most men in big business. Shrewd, calculating, money hungary, manipulating etc. However in big business these ideals are applauded and these guys are well respected. In person however he is a nice guy. It's his ethics that are in question.

Here's my question... personal feelings aside how is he different than any other high level executive types that you'd find in a fortune 500 company?

    He's a marketing whiz, he's succesful, he's rich...

My old instructors are not all shining examples of gallantry. I don't mind admitting this. It doesn't mean I'm going to tell them to **** off, or write an expose on what hypocritical assholes they are, because they are not as big of assholes as Whorion. But if someone was bashing them, legitimately, I would have to agree.

Getting back to the topic at hand (i.e. Cullion is an idiot)
Catch as far as I've been able to tell is so rare as to be nonexistent in the us.
There certainly weren't schools in most major cities or tournaments.

So you are wrong and ignorant.
    Again.

you speak from ignorance. Rorion has trademarked Gracie Jiu Jitsu with only family members able to use it in that form, insuring that PURE WATER JIU JITSU stays.
    Captain Spaulding posted.
I think what ended up happening is that they couldn't say they taught "Gracie Jiu-jitsu" but they could use their entire names. For example, Renzo can say that he teaches "Renzo Gracie Jiu-jitsu."
Some inconsistency between the two statements.

    4. Rorion has ensured that Gracie Jiu Jitsu will never be a McDojo.

Bart Vale. But Cullion is also misunderstanding the history, speaking from ignorance, and generally being his idiotic self. Bart Vale was not simultaneously all over the US.

I cannot help you with your small man issues.

    P.S.

Bart Vale was not simultaneously all over the US.
    Neither was Rorion.

You can't help me argue a point either. You were arguing for my usual position that Shootfighting was around at the same time as UFC 1. That is true, but it is also true that BJJ spread WAY FASTER. There's no denying that, but you've been trying anyway. Stop.

I'm not trying to argue that it didn't spread faster, just that it wasn't there first. That's the value of marketing.

I just thought Rorion talked a lot of ****, and some of the more switched on BJJ practitioners agreed with me.

Oh, sorry, yes Whorion was there first, also. His academy didn't launch with UFC 1.
