Hypothesis: Incidence of caulliflower ear is inversely proportional to level of bullshido.

Evidence:
CE: Judo, wrestling, boxing, bjj, kickboxing, rugby.
No CE: Figure skating.

Inference: CE, a disfiguring and unattractive injury, is a consequence of training and competing in fighting styles that aren't bullshit. No one wants it, some of us are susceptable to it.

As an aside, recommendations on good headgear are appreciated. My asics suck and slide over my ear, folding it and making the whole problem worse. My wife's starting to bitch at me about it (on top of the fact I get home at 915pm most nights) and I've had about 3ccs of fluid drained from my ear over the last few weeks.

I agree on your assertion. Clubs with a higher prevelance of ear deformation are less likely to become bullshido.

Go for ear protectors with a softer edge. They are more expensive but worth the extra cost.

Before you spar/roll or whatever, try massaging and bending your ears a little. Back when I was getting CE a lot, I found it helped to get the blood flowing beforehand. Might just be placebo effect though.
