Are you actually trying to be serious for once??? Change your name, it might help...this one sucks. I will answer your question, hoping that you will continue to try to ask Real questions & stop with the Migo bashing on every thread...

If your asking which one I would choose if I could train only one??? I wouldn't choose one. I like both, need both..
I'm a crosstrainer, I do BJJ, MT, boxing, WC & Kali/Escrima...I would never do just one art, I prefer to train all the ranges of combat. One without the other can be beat. Not saying I can't be...lol, just saying I personally feel more comfortable training this way.

umm, yes it does because pulling guard is easy and so are takedowns on someone who doesn't expect them.

they each have their place, no two situations are the same...one might be better in a certain situation than the other..NOPE not gonna commit to one being more of an advantage...
There are a few places I would really NOT want to roll around on the ground if I didn't have to, there I would hope to use MT or other standing...
Preferably, straight blast in with elbows, punches & knees & anything else I could throw at them...

An yone who STILL thinks that grappling in single combat is EQUAL to striking is on dope. HOWMUCH do you have to see before you are proven otherwise? Go back and watch EVERY early NHB event where you had guys who JUST GRAPPLED against guys that struck. Like whe Ke Sharock didnt throw a SINGLE STRIKE against Pat Smith. And Royce WRECKED everyone. I cant believe that people make believe they think all arts are equal.

I personally think Tai Chi is the best art. Nothing that was proven in the UFC or Pride really matters. Tai Chi is the king.

Unless you know a hundred and thirty seven different arts you couldnt POSSIBLY defend yourself.

Give Vitor 'Shaolin' Ribeiro a call and tell him that. He forgot when he took down shootfighter Takumi Nakayama ans chocked him unconcious in 51 seconds without throwing a single strike.

Tell that to Royce Graice who beat EVERY straight striker he faced AND cross trained guys like Ken Shamrock and Pat Smith and Gerard Gordeau(who was training with Freek Hamaker-sambo).

I am not trying to be an ass now, just voicing my opinion...

Dunno if its just me, but fighting in a ring (cage, octagon *Insert own choice here*) might just be a bit different from self defence.
I grapple, but damn me if id I wouldn't try to poke an eye out or bend a knee backwards standing up instead of trying to choke in a him or me situation.

Though... I don't have any statistics to show it but from what I have seen or experienced many outside ring/without rules fights end up on the ground anyway.

So... I dunno. I agree with the crosstraining aye sayers.

I think eye-gouging is a good technique on the street.
