If Corvus and Enhanced are not interested in stepping into a ring to check out the effectiveness of FSD, that's fair enough. How about checking out how other clubs teach and what kind of techniques they promote? How about a chance to take a class with a Gracie brother in Ottawa, try Muay Thai with an English Champion, Kickboxing with a 23 time world champion, jiu jitsu with various instructors from literally around the world, or karate? All in the same weekend? How's $99 bucks sound for a weekend? http://www.worldkobudo.info/content/view/13/42/
Check and see how some other clubs do things and work together to make all their students better. -

I think that if you are a stickfigher or run in those circles you should know who the dogbrothers are. Its like saying your in the grappling community but dont know who the gracie family is. But I agree that Fedor is not a good benchmark for who a world class figher is. We all know that Crocop is the man of the hour:)

Yeah comparing their Sijo to Fedor is a little unfair. Especially given that teaching martial arts is what the Fang Shen Do instructors do for a living, 8 hours a day 7 days a week, nothing else but train to fight. Hmm, so does Fedor and CroCop etc, wonder who I would rather train like?
So yeah, it would be very unfair to compare their Sijo with a real fighter, in fact with any MMA fighter, the Sijo would just never measure up. Especially if he is training wrist lock takedowns with phantom elbow strikes (linked) and calling it grappling!
Their question was how do we base our comparison of fighting systems. I base mine on results in Pride FC, at which Fedor is the best of that group. That doesnt lesson my respect for other MMA fighters, and we could debate greatest of all time till the cows come home.
Stick fighters, like the Fang Shen Do group claim to be, should know who the Dog Brothers are. If they don't they are not qualified to talk about Stick fighting - This wonderfull information age opens up a lot of doors, if and when you want to gain expertese in a subject, google will get you there. Unless you live in a cave.
If you are claiming that you are teaching Teh D3adly Str33t WORLD CLASS effective stick fighting art, as they do in the videos I have seen, then you had better be ready to try to live up to a comparison with the Dog Brothers.
Fang Shen Do does not live up to comparison with Dog Brothers. It does not event live up to comparison with a local Vale Tudo club, let alone a world class gym that it claims to be.Last edited by Askari; 4/01/2006 1:53pm at .

Hello boys, just dropped in to see what condition my codition was in, if you follow my flow! Listen, here's the thing and its actually very easy to follow.
A story is floating around that a guy with a few lessons in the ancient art of Find'em and Hit'em pimped a Fang Shen Don't Sifu.
Why in all that is silly and gay in the world of silk pajamas and slipperswould you not want to question the effectiveness of you style?!?
I had a friend who bought his first car in Grade 10. He loved that car, but it was a Pinto!!! YOU'RE DRIVING THE PINTO OF THE MARTIAL ARTS COMMUNITY!!!!
TKD
PS - We all know that pound for pound Mark Hunt is the toughest guy on the planet although I'd be willing to examine Mirco Filipovic as a close second.
PPS - WHO IS THIS HICKSON GUY YOU TALK OF?!? -

Your right, he doesnt compare to any MMA fighter.
PS. Mark Hunt can take a good punch... But.....Can he grapple? -
