    This is not rare. It's a good idea, and I've developed my right elbow to act in place of a straight right. Of course, these are short jabs, so I would already be close.

    I think it is more important for somone concentrating on Boxing to learn how to block and counter kicks and knees, then it is for them to learn how to execute them.

    I don't really have the time or patience to read all 29 pages of this thread, and I realize this has probably been said already but I'll throw in my $.02. I took up boxing because I'd rather take one very effective and relatively simple weapon (punches) and get extremely good at using it than be mediocre at a lot of different things. The other plus is the foot work; which is nothing short of brilliant. Boxing may not be quite "complete" but it makes up for it by being spectacular at what it does do.
