Basic point, Aikido doesn't work for most people and is therefore considered an ineffective system of martial arts. Most altercations do not start with somebody grabbing your wrist, and if they do, your opponant is so poor a fighter that you could do almost anything and get away with it.

aikido is ineffective for most people because they don't train correctly... grabs are for beginners, but there are all types of attacks in aikido... most of the altercations i have been in did indeed start with or at least involve some sort of grab... since you study Hapkido you should know better, but maybe the Capoeira has scrambled your brains... its not the style but the man...

It's not the man nor purely the style it's mainly the method in which you train and how close that is to real conflict . If you train aikido like it was designed to be trained .. even if you're a bad ass ... you won't be a bad ass for long .

No **** Sherlock.
That's why I use most of my posts to speak out against the failings of TKD and Capoeira. As for Hapkido, I have to say that it has at least a little more kick (no pun intended) to it than watered down Aikido.
You should thank me for conceding that Aikido may have at least one redeaming virtue.
If you are going to be an asshat about it though, I will take it back.
