    Hell yeah! Hell no!

The Kosen Judo scavenger hunt thread

We've all had to suffer through our share of LOL BASICALLY JUST JUDO in our time.

Well, here's the thread to hash it out once and for all, in the form of a funtime kids activity.

Can you find any of the following techniques in old judo books? The books must have been published between 1903 and 1993. Non-kodokan jujutsu books don't count. Vague assertions like THEY REALLY HAD IT MY HAPKIDO MASTER SWEARS don't count. If you cannot even name these techniques, you already lose.

If a majority of these techniques have been found to have no judo equivalents within a week, BJJ WINS AGAIN.

I like it how sambo kneebar is now BJJ.

To make your point you will also have to prove that these techniques were published in BJJ books prior to 1993.

This is an inflamatory thread and you should know better than this.

So you freely admit BJJ is a superset of all other grappling systems?

Absolutely. But I wouldn't feel superior about it if I was a blue belt.

But you think you, a zero-belt, can talk back to me?

Why not start with the basics of groundwork/newaza instead of esoteric moves/combinations that are often the results of differences in the evolution of rulesets and other stylistic focuses?
Last edited by Tourettes; 2/09/2006 11:50pm at . Reason: added "combinations" to "esoteric moves" as the evolution of combos is a result of style + rules as well.

This is impossible; see my above post about BJJ being a superset of Judo.
