    Randy Couture, UFC Legend, Retires

Following his loss to Chuck Liddell at UFC 57, Randy "The Natural" Couture retired from Mixed Martial Arts to pursue other goals and train the next generation of fighters. On the heels of the death of Carlson Gracie, this news makes for a sad February in the MMA world. We at Bullshido would like to wish him the best in his future efforts and thank him for all the memories.

Randy is the only fighter in the UFC to ever hold titles in two different weight classes, having been the two time Heavyweight champion, and the two time Light-Heavyweight champion. He refined the use of the "ground and pound" attack and made the phrase "dirty boxing" famous amongst MMA fans through his highly efficient use of punches from the clinch.

Thanks for everything you did for the sport, Randy. You are a class act and one of the best role models for fighters we've ever had. You'll always be our "Captain America".

I don't mean to be a dick but it's Randy Couture.

He was a great asset to the UFC and MMA in general. I'm just sad we never got to see Randy vs. Wanderlei.

Randy has done his part. Besides his part in evolving the actual sport, he has garnered a huge amount of respect for it. Couture is and always will be a class act. A fine example of a modern MMAist.

If his "retirement" is half as productive as his active fighting days, he'll be contributing for a long time to come.

I was so sorry to see Randy Couture retire. Still going strong at 42, what a champ. He's one of my heroes, just due to his determination and class alone. Who says you have to retire after you're past your "prime?" :)

I sincerely hope he stays in MMA as an ambassador for the sport in some manner. And Hall of Fame this guy ASAP.
