    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Pride vs UFC vs the World!

Hi everyone, I have always been into MMA but I just recently got a chance to watch a good amount of it on cable and have been getting really addicted lately. It started from watching UFC, then discovering the once a week Pride show. This also to led me to watch a lot more on the beautiful internet.

I was just wondering what the general consesus is about UFC fighters compared to pride or K-1 or any other MMA associations. I was kind of dissappointed to see Sakurai lose to Hughes today which got me question which companies really had the best fighters. Is it safe to say that UFC fighters are on a lower level compared to Pride?

Which company has the best fighters? I'm really impressed with alot of the people in Pride like Gomi, Fedor, Rampage, Sakurai, Cro-Cop etc and was just wondering how they would do if facing UFC regulars. Like would Lidell even be a competitor over in Pride. Would Gomi just tear up everyone in his class at UFC?

I still haven't seen enough to understand the finer details of the fight and understand if a fighter is A class or B/C/etc.

Sorry it's a bit long and newbish! Thanks!

The only weightclasses that really interest me at the moment in UFC is WW and MW, now that Couture has retired there isnīt much left in the LHW and the HW just sucks balls. Anyone saw the HW fight in UFC 56? Fucking horrible.

Chuck Liddell got his shot in pride, and was destroyed by Rampage. If he canīt handle Rampage he doesnīt stand a chance against Silva, Shogun etc.

the rule sets are different, as is the environment.

the use of elbows in UFC or the use of knees and kicks to a downed opponent in Pride, make a huge difference in strategy.

also the ring vs. the cage (the cage favors wrestlers a great deal.)

i don't think hughes would have beaten sakurai under pride rules

Thanks for the replies guys now I understand a bit more. I didn't know you couldn't do knee strikes on downed opponents in UFC either.

UFC has better welterweights/middleweights in my opinion. The heavyweights, light heavyweights, and lightweights are all clearly superior in pride. Especially considering UFC doesn't even have a lightweight division...

I don't think you have an adequate grasp on reality.

I love Sakurai, I wanted him to win that fight, I thought "If anyone can beat Hughes, surely it's Sakurai!"...but that was retardedly wishful thinking. Sakurai would never beat Hughes. Hughes is too big and strong and well-based...it would just not happen.
