I think we're making a little bit too much of a big deal on the slip there. Yeah, it was disappointing, and contributed a bit to his defeat. But watching that fight, it looked like there was more of a factor there in Couture's loss than just the slip.

Either way, I don't see this as a devestating loss for Couture. It was unfortunate and perhaps not as spectacular as we could have hoped, but at the same time, he put up a really nice, tight fight there. Both of those guys didn't make any really wild mistakes. It wasn't a haymaker fight in the slightest. Liddell got in what, one kick to the leg? There was a little grappling in there, but all-in-all, I think both men gave a top-notch performance. They countered with what they should have countered with, and the fight was ultimately decided by punches.

    It was cool.

And wait, Liddell is dating this Ford chick? Isn't she like 20 and a pop diva. That's like the worst age and environment to be dating a girl. I guess he's enjoying the ride.

To me it looks like Randy exposed his chin to a guy that hits like a fucking mack truck. There's no shame in Randy getting beaten by Chuck.

I don't even like Liddell that much and I have to acknowledge that his striking has improved A LOT in the past couple years. He's more active, less of a counterpuncher, and still has that great ability to catch people in weird transitory positions where they are offbalance. I haven't followed his career a whole lot, but he looks the best I've ever seen him. I am starting to wish I'd see him going against the Pride MWs sometime soon . . .

P.S. -- That Mohawk + goatee combo is really disgusting. I did notice that if you combined Couture's and Liddell's hair into one person, they would have a complete head of hair.

Wow. This thread just got very deep and insightful.

I really do think Chuck could hang with most of the 205 lb fighters in Pride. I think he would match up well against Wanderlei Silva or Shogun.

What really impressed me was how quickly Liddell pounced and finished Randy after the slip/fall/KO/whatever. That is what really sets these guys apart...you can make mistakes with subpar fighters, but **** up in the ring with these guys and your done INSTANTLY. No second chances, no surviving scrambles, no clinch protection...Randy touched the ground and Liddell was on him quicker than I could blink with fight finishing punches.

Damn. Imagine how quick he could put you out in a barfight if he surprised you.

Perhaps, but not before he settles things with Rampage. IMO, Rampage should be his gateway fight since a rematch might just be in the UFC's best interest. Build Liddell's credibility in JPN, plus tie up a loose end. Plus, I doubt Liddell has forgotten that particular defeat... and deep down wants to get rid of his albatross.

Liddel/Shogun would be a really interesting fight.

Liddel's a terrible matchup for Silva, though. And probably an even worse matchup for Arona.

OFG Liddell vs Shogun... If they both brought their "A" Game, a fight like that could make history.
