    Couture vs Liddell *Spoiler*

Couture - KO'd by an Advertisement
    http://www.megaupload.com/cn/?d=CWAKQGUY

I have seen problem this in many fights both on tv and from personal experience. The people who construct the ring do shiyty work to the point that it alters the course of a fight. Look at the final part of the clip where Couture makes his move, the floor covering shifts, he slips and loses his base, *WHACK* he is KTFO. Granted, Couture was pretty much getting man-handled by Liddell but if I pay for a damned fight and then it ends due to poor ring construction... pisses me off. Furthermore, it is common for the damned advertisement logo/text, etc to be slippery and since the ring is usually covered with them... it is a total beating for a fighter.

I remember watching a San Shou match with two great kickers and there was much anticipation of the fight. However, in order to preserve the images and logos on the ring floor, they put some sort of coating over the floor. The first few mighty kicks thrown sent the fighters falling to the floor. Needless to say, it was pretty much a tepid fight since neither of them wanted to fall on their arse.

    Ok, /rant off.

Randy did slip, and that slip did cost him the fight. However, as you may have heard, this was not Randy's first fight. He is fully aware of the in ring advertisements. He made a mistake, and got knocked out for it. That is the nature of the sport. Also, Randy was not "man-handling" Chuck Liddell. Randy got one solid takedown, but he could not capitalize. And nobody was really scoring in the standup.

All the ufc 57 fights are on www.youtube.com already in case anyone finds that more convenient than megaupload.

    I watched the fight.

He slipped, he lost. I've seen fighters slip from sweaty feet, from lack of balance, or from a whiffed technique.

It's part of the fight. I don't see anything particularly egregious about this event.

Well, maybe it was the fact that it was the last fight of Randy Couture's career and it had to end as something less than an Epic Battle.

Some fighters don't go out with a bang. Sometimes, they keep trying to come back. Muhammad Ali, for example.

    Or Mike Tyson.

I agree... what a shitty way to lose your last fight. Randy is not some has been. He had the capacity to go the full 5 rounds in that fight, and the way things were going... it might have. I agree with you losttrak. What a shitty way to go out.... Someone should be fired.
