Thread: Grappling or Anti Grappling

Yes it's grappling, and the point Anthony is trying to make is that JFS clearly "taught" it at a seminar of his when he had no business doing so.
Some of you need to stop being obtuse and be honest with yourselves.

For ME grapling involves rolling, trying to get dominant position (while remaining on the ground), going for leg/arm locks and chokes.

Ground fighting is included in Grappling but Grappling is more then that, throws for example.

Grappling: Grabbing, pushing, pulling, shoving, tripping, yanking, twisting, throwing, lifting, slamming.
Striking: hitting, punching, kicking, slapping, clubbing, stomping, knee-ing, elbowing, headbutting.
Seriously, if you're unclear what the two terms encompass then get the **** off this website right now.

I think I put my vote in over 3 years ago. Any technique that requires any form of grabbing is a grappling technique. I can throw a person and hit them with the ground it's still a grappling technique. If somebody grabs you and you punch them in the face that's striking but if you peel the thumb away it's grappling....
To argue this is just silly. You may want to avoid a grappling situation in a street fight but it's usually inevitable. If two guys are coming after me somebody's going to become a shield. First time somebody ever tacked me it was up and over and into a wall (wizzer if you will).
I think most people will argue that these things aren't grappling because it doesn't get in depth with the follow ups as mainly grappling arts due, but last time I checked Judo & Jujitsu has striking although only in a minor way.

Obviously I always thought it was the other way around. But I have an excuse English is my second language :laughing5Martial Arts is like sex, if you over complicate it with exotic sounding names, theories and principles, you end up fucking yourself in the ass. -Ronin69

Does it count if it doesn't work? And that's when I figured out that tears couldn't make somebody who was dead alive again. There's another thing to learn about tears, they can't make somebody who doesn't love you any more love you again. It's the same with prayers. I wonder how much of their lives people waste crying and praying to God. If you ask me, the devil makes more sense than God does. I can at least see why people would want him around. It's good to have somebody to blame for the bad stuff they do. Maybe God's there because people get scared of all the bad stuff they do. They figure that God and the Devil are always playing this game of tug-of-war game with them. And they never know which side they're gonna wind up on. I guess that tug-of-war idea explains how sometimes, even when people try to do something good, it still turns out bad.

Different issue. Crappling/Bad Grappling is still grappling.
It's bullshido, but nobody's denying that it's grappling any more than people are denying Yugos were cars.

Here's a question for you. I'm at a kung fu seminar and I say to the guy teaching it, "Hey, what if someone tries to tackle me. What to I do."
So the kung fu guys says, "okay, here, grab me around the waist and make like you're tackling me. Okay, so this is a bad thing if you don't know any grappling. I'm no expert, but I guess you could try X, Y, or Z."
So, is this kung fu guy teaching crappling or is he just trying to answer a question?
You guys are so fucking narrow minded on this its insane. Apparently everyone on Bullshido whose ever offered advice or opinions on MA that they aren't certified in should leave immediately. Oh, except that would be all of us. Damn.Jesus loves you. I think you're an asshole.
