I've never seen that before, but I always put the arm across before I lock into a full triangle so no one will be grabbing my head after I've adjusted the hook.

I'll try it out on Saturday and report back.

Hmm, this is a longer version of a video I've seen before. It only showed the part where he kicks the guy in the face...

As for the defense, I've never thought of using a canopener while triangled. I'll try it out sometime.

Generally speaking, putting your hand behind someone's head like that = armbar. Also as someone above said, it is going to be impossible to do with your arm crossed over their body.

This kind of escape, as all escapes usually are, is predicated on someone NOT getting it locked in.

    What Yrkoon said.

Anyway, I've seen it work and I've done it, but it isn't my favourite defence vs the triangle.

WHAT!!! NEVER QUESTION LORD BAS!!!!! go sit in the corner and drink your arsnic laced grape juice and die you blasphemers.

But seriously, I second Yrkoon, if the triangle is locked in, your not going to do much except pass out. If I wasn't such a compu-tard I would post Horn choking out Chuck to demonstrate. Maybe someone else knows the link. :icon_rr:

That's what I was thinking about, if you use the inside hand behind his head all he has to do is overhook it with an arm and armbar...... perhaps getting seriously stacked negates this? don't know...

Plus, can openers are for tools (HA!). Seriously, though, unless it's a life-or-death situation, or MAYBE in competition, I've always thought it was just a way for bigger guys to muscle through the guard, rather than trying to pass technically.
