"The New York Times published yesterday an article by one James Fondler about his experiences traversing the M'Golo river in Congo. Of course, there IS no M'Golo river in Africa, and we were aware of this at all times, despite it leading to us publishing a fake article and making us look like idiots without any knowledge of African geography whatsoever. We hereby Declare Mr. Fondler to have been thoroughly OWNED, because even though we published a bullshit article, we KNEW it was bullshit all along, making us the smart guys!"

You could still shut down any response he has by actually testing the vest and proving it doesn't work.

The books would probably fall out of place if you walked around a bit, as I said.

I hope Phil doesn't put together a vest that actually does stop knife attacks.

Then the Pwnage would really suck.

"Probably" and "certainly" are pretty easy to establish with a video and still camera...but if you don't prove it, it's not proven.

I told everybody this before. Do stab tests...prove it doesn't work, THEN gloat.

True. But I can´t do it, I got no camera or time.

This is a fair statement. I'm not ruining my book collection, so I'm not going to get upset if no one else takes the challenge, but ICY does have a point.

My viewpoint is the same as it was then; there are too many variables to have anything absolute -there are limits to everything. If I was Phil wanting to "prove" it did work I'd use test it against a penknife squarely in the middle of a book once. If I was an overenthusiastic bullie wanting it to fail, i'd test it against a frenzied attack to the flanks with a kitchen knife - in which (IMO) it is highly unlikely to work.

The choice of a stab vest was incidental at the time the article was written. it was more a reflection of the paranoia within certain elements of the RBSD community.

The alturantive article was to be an under-arm holster for a "tactical torch" but actually making one and buying the torch seemed like too much effort/money.

This is why I present this as a demonstration that he published unverified articles - I have not said whether the stab vest could actually work or not.
