Sorting out the "stick" arts

I've done some training with sticks, and it was enough to whet my appetite for more. I done some research and looked at a few books and basically found that there are a lot of "stick arts" out there. I'm looking for something practical and versatile (aren't we all). Can anyone help sort me out on where to get started?

Argh! I hate web pages that insist on playing music without my permission! I have to say, that gives me a pretty bad first impression. I can't comment on the art, though, and I note that non of the schools are near enough to me. Anyone else have anything useful?

By stick arts are you primarily thinking of the FMA, or are you including Western Martial arts that use the stick as sword(ie, what exactly are you interested in learning?)

I'm mainly concerned with getting a grip on what the different styles are and their relative usefullness. I'm not necessarily looking for a school or anything at this stage. Whatever I decide to pursue, I want to make sure that it can be applied and isn't all just flash. Right now I have Presas' "Modern Arnis" and Galang's "Complete Sinawali". It looks like pretty good stuff, but I was hoping to get the perspective of those more experienced before diving in.
